featherless chickens?

My sister, Nanet, and her husband have started a poultry in their backyard. They're raising chickens!

Here's the chicken coop with about 500 broiler chickens growing really fast. They become mature and ready for harvest in just four weeks from the day they are hatched.

I forgot to ask how old these chickens are but they sure look funny to me.

A closer look would show that some parts of their bodies are featherless. I wondered if the chickens' bodies were growing too fast and the feather growth couldn't catch up?

My brother-in-law, Edgar, assured me it is not that way. That what I'm seeing is just the normal progression of chicken growth.

Uh, ok. Fine. Just let me know when it's chow time...
