A couple of weeks ago, I left my Smart cellphone in the pool shower room (amf!). Almost in a panic and with a sinking sensation in the pit of my stomach, I dialed my Smart number hoping against hope that whoever found it would have it in her (I left it in the female shower room) heart to answer.
Lo and behold, after several rings, a young voice answered. "Miss," she said, "I found your phone in the pool shower room and brought it with me because there was nobody else there na!" Her name was Monica Cadiente, a sophomore accounting student from St. Paul University in Dumaguete. Wow, oh, wow!
To make a long story short, I was reunited the next day with my precious Smart phone and had the pleasure of meeting Monica and her mom who came to visit her from their hometown in Manjuyod.
Truely, honesty and kind hearts still abound in Dumaguete! I am one lucky resident of this place. Thank you, Monica and thank you, Mrs. Cadiente, for raising such an upstanding young woman. To the sisters and teachers of St. Paul's Dumaguete, you do our city proud. :-) !!!
