Bohol

Went to Bohol last week and my story now is kinda in reverse order as it begins with our return trip. Why? Uh, no particular reason. Maybe because I wanted so much to post already the pictures of the inviting sea waters of Bohol. At the pier the water was crystal clear and we saw a lot of fishes swimming there. Fancied joining them for a while too, hmm.

It was bright and sunny when we left Bohol yesterday. At the Tagbilaran Pier, there were Badjaos or Sea Gypsies riding their little bancas waiting for coins to be tossed to them.

There goes one boy, jumping off his perch to catch a coin tossed by a passenger.

The boy disappeared under the water and but soon bubbled up with his shiny catch.

But we weren't able to catch that on camera as the Weesam Fastcraft was already whistling for us to board and be on our way home to Dumaguete. Good thing we had to run because we were very tempted already to follow the boy and dive right in too.

(More on the Bohol trip tomorrow... )

In the meantime, here are some links to some extraordinary finds in Bohol:

An endangered species, the Philippine tarsier, that looks like a cross between a rat, a monkey and a cute, cuddly stuffed toy. These previously shy creatures have become so used to posing with tourists and locals alike.

The incredible but inedible Chocolate Hills. How did they come to be? Which would you prefer to believe, the scientific explanation or the legend?

The health and environment friendly organic Bee Farm where you'll find edible flowers in your salad. They say that they "ardently support an agricultural development that leads to healthier soils and diverse agricultural ecosystems, conditions that help promote a better environment. One that we hope would be populated by a happier and healthier people."
